Fota Island Resort Cork – Spa Review

Last month I got to stay in the stunning Fota Island Resort in Cork on my friends hen and we just had the best time! Luxury accommodations, delicious afternoon tea and stunning surroundings were all highlights for me. What really was the icing on the cake though, was the fab on-site spa.

We got to spend a morning in the spa being pampered and truth behold, if I could have, I would have stayed there the whole weekend, it was fabulous!

As part of the hen package we were on, we got to enjoy two treatments and we got to use the on-site spa facilities which included a relaxation room and a hydrotherapy area.

Fota Island Resort – Relaxation RoomΒ

For me, this was the best feature of the spa. I headed down early before my appointments and enjoyed a good hour or two in the relaxation room. It was so peaceful and just so so relaxing. With heated beds, light meditation music and flavoured water, I was in my element! I also had the place to myself for most of my visit and that made it even more perfect!

Spa Treatments

The two treatments I chose were the neck, back and shoulder massage and a scalp massage. The neck, back and shoulder massage was the first treatment I received and it was my least favourite. Having told the girl I was there to relax, she continued to kill me with the massage. No joke, there was light tears! I asked for a lighter pressure but again, she didn’t listen! Luckily, I was saved on the scalp massage which was just the most amazing massage I’ve ever had! It was relaxing, distressing and I got so relaxed, I dozed off!

In place of the neck, back and shoulder massage, I’d have loved a hot stone massage which is my favourite kind of massage as its all about relaxation and not deep tissue rubbing! This wasn’t an option on the hen package but I enjoyed the scalp massage none the less!

VIP Relaxation Room

After my massage, I was directed to our private VIP relaxation suite which was just perfect for chilling out. Located beside the hydrotherapy pool, it was easily accessed and it had an array of seating, light, healthy bites and some juices. I loved this area of the spa as the natural lighting was gorgeous.

Overall I had the best time at the Fota Island Resort Spa and I can’t wait to go back for a visit! We stayed in the on-site lodges and next time I go, I’m going to stay in the main hotel (which looks AMAZING btw!)

Have you been to the Fota Island Resort in Cork? What did you love most?

  2. I loved the massage, I especially love a good deep tissue massage !
The Hydrotherapy pool with those swan neck jets are my favourite as I suffer from neck pain & placing myself under one of those are the bomb. It is a beautiful place to unwind and relax. Glad you enjoyed it hope you recovered from the massage !

    • It really is perfect for unwinding Marie! I can’t wait to go back with the other half for a night or two πŸ™‚ x

  3. fab i want to go now please!

  4. Oh, this looks relaxing. Just reminded me I have a voucher for a local spa, must use it up before it expires. I badly need some TLC!

  5. Great review and pics Kathleen, I really enjoyed Fota when I stayed. So frustrating when you get the wrong massage pressure though – for me it’s the other way round generally, I want firmer pressure and don’t get it so maybe I should make an appointment with your girl!
